What Schedule?
What a whirlwind this past week has been. I started on a high - an “I got this” mentality, which was very closely followed by a complete mental breakdown filled with 2 days of ugly crying and mascara stained cheeks. I. Did. Not. Have. It. I imagine a lot of you have been going through this rollercoaster of emotion recently…no? Just me? Well, anyways, after my husband and I had swift kick in the butt from our therapist, I might actually have it…sort of. Eh. We’ll take it day by day. But, it did help not only our relationship, but me personally get back on track. Because here is the thing. We have not had a schedule. When I’m in work mode, he’s in chill mode, when I’m in full anxiety mode, he’s already been through that and back around. We were not on the same page, and as productive as I might have felt like I was being, I think it was mostly me running in circles. Which led me to this.
Schedules are important! I never thought of myself as someone who relied on a schedule, in fact, I’m usually a very “go with the flow” type of person. But apparently, I’m a go with the flow as long as we still have some type of schedule type of person. Huh, who knew! Well, here it is. A schedule can help decrease anxiety, improve productivity, and feel a sense of normalcy in a highly abnormal circumstance. The importance of the schedule is to ground you. And boy did I need grounding. I believe a lot of us right now are grasping on by threads because every part of our life is changing - good or bad - it’s definitely changing.
My husband and I are both small business owners and parents of 2 children. So in the matter of weeks, we were thrown to the wolves. Here - figure out how to continue to run your businesses without actually being in your business, oh and also, start home schooling without any guidelines. WHAT!? So after this past week and a half of pure scrambling, it’s time for this family to buckle down and hop on a schedule. Again, I am NOT a schedule person. But tough times call for tough measures. This week we will be putting the schedule to the test. I’m already excited by the sense of security. Look for an update sometime next week! In the mean time - try your own schedule and let me know how it goes, if it helps, or if your still running around the house with your hair lit on fire - I’ll take all perspectives.
