Take Small Steps to Reach Your Big Goals
How do you eat an elephant?!🐘
Okay, I realize that sounds like a strange question. Let me explain…
If you ever feel overwhelmed or stressed by big projects or impossible goals, keep reading for the simple trick I use to avoid all that unnecessary pain and hardship!
For me, big projects and goals used to feel scary, impossible, and crushing. I often didn’t even know where to start. And of course, analysis paralysis would then freeze me in place, unable to take the steps necessary to succeed.
Until someone asked me:
How do you eat an elephant?
Now, initially, I gave them a face similar to the one you’re likely making at your screen. Like, I’m sorry, say that again?!
But then I stopped to think about it.
I mean, an elephant is MASSIVE! In truth, there is only one logical and feasible way to devour the whole thing…
One bite at a time.
(Of course, I am unsure why you’d ever be faced with eating a whole elephant, BUT regardless, it gives you a very clear visual!)
Well, the same goes for accomplishing big things. You get there one step at a time. The small decisions and actions you put forth today will move you on the road toward your end goal.
Breaking a large task into smaller micro-tasks will help it seem less daunting and burdensome. Consistently take small micro-steps, over and over, and sooner than you realize you’ll be achieving what you set out to!
So, next time you’re faced with an overwhelming task, project, or goal, pause, and ask yourself:
