Exercise & Nutrition. King & Queen.

What roles do exercise & nutrition play in your kingdom?

I saw this quote the other day:

“Exercise is king.
Nutrition is queen.
Put them together and you’ve got a kingdom.”

- Jack LaLanne

After reading it, I took stock of my own kingdom and realized this actually rings true. In the Best Household, we prioritize exercise as king and nutrition as queen to live our happiest lives.

Now, is this really that big of a surprise?
- I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy whose clinic is devoted to helping people to “Move Well. Move Often.
- My husband and I co-own a CrossFit gym, Uru Strength & Conditioning, that helps people crush mediocrity and level up their fitness routines.
- And my husband created a 401(c)(3) non-profit, The Barbell Saves Project, that supports individuals in recovery from substance use disorder using fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

The purpose of our lives revolves around helping people live healthier, more active lives!

Outside of our professional lives, our personal lives thrive under this hierarchy. It is the key component for us to enjoy our happiest and healthiest lives. It helps my husband and I have a clear understanding of where our priorities need to fall for us to show up for each other and feel our best.

It is that simple.
Movement is the best medicine for our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
And feeding our bodies the best fuel ensures we operate at optimal levels.

It’s just what works for us!

Now, I am not saying to be happy and healthy your priorities need to match ours. What works for us may not be what works for you! I’m simply encouraging you to evaluate what/who wears the crown of King and Queen in your Kingdom. And maybe ask yourself where exercise and nutrition reside in your priorities. Do you want them to hold a larger title?

You can’t expect your kingdom to thrive if the king and queen aren’t serving you well!
